45 min west of Fort Worth, right in the heart of North Texas, you'll find Lake Mineral Wells State Park. Covering more than 3,200 acres of land and a lake spanning over 645 acres, Mineral Wells CP has something for every outdoor lover. Camping in one of the 115 camp sites, fishing and kayaking at one of the 6 fishing docks on the lake and kayak launch, hiking on over 12 miles of hiking trails or the 20-mile trail way, and even, get this, rock climbing! That's right, Mineral Wells SP is home to Penitentiary Hallows, a limestone bluff that offers one of the few natural rock climbing venues in North Texas.

The park is just outside of the city of Mineral Wells, which is known as the wellness capital of Texas. Visit the fossil park, Clark Gardens, and the famous Crazy Water mineral water company and Crazy Water Hotel.

Many of the fishing docks will require a hike from the parking to the water's edge, so be prepared. The docks are well-kept and have lights at night. There is a park store that offers basic groceries, camping gear, firewood, and live bait. Overall, a really nice park that I really enjoyed.
